Need to get something started...

Ok, I'm literally itching to get started on something, but I'm really struggling to get any semblance of an idea together, because I'm so averse to hitting cliches. I want to do something within the sci-fi genre, and mixing some of my favourite movies and video games together, but i want to avoid 'space marines' and other cliches.

Any ideas, and anybody interested in collab??

Oh, and how do I delete projects??

When I'm stuck I turn to the internet on how to write different types of screenplays (Action, Sci-fi, ete.) Friends can be a big help! Ask them what they think would be worth watching. Also, keep dream journals (Sounds odd I know) sit down and look back on the dreams, any interesting Characters? Are there any witty lines? The brain is amazing. It’s really fun to make Character out of a mix of you fave characters from whatever. Hope this helps! (And wasn’t to long!)

well somethign in the scifi genre is really hit or miss, with the latter being more the case usually. but if you got somethign good going and you really believe in it, flow with it. id say that the best way to come up with some ideas is either shoot the shit with your friends (pardon the language), or to completely and utterly zone out, just let your mind wander. i think where you have to start is with the characters first, and like the person above me said, dream journals might be a great place to start, or base characters off people you know. then when you get something like that, put the characters into base movie or story situations (ie wars, love stories, small town to big city, etc), and i think you could cook something up from there
