It's morning, and the room is almost silent, except for the whirring of computers and typing on keyboards. CUT TO NICK, sitting at his computer, slurping a giant Sonic drink. He slurps for a solid minute, the camera slowly zooming in on his straw until it's focusing on a single bead of water.

JAY (o.c.) sighs, breaking the silence. NICK continues to slurp.

CUT TO the FRONT DOOR. LAUREN opens the door as hard as she can, slamming it against the wall. Her tank top is falling off one of her shoulders and she stumbles towards her desk, reeking of alcohol.

CUT TO LAUREN slamming her flask down on the desk.

She takes a large gulp of her drink. It smells strongly of vodka.

Camera zooms out to show LAUREN's desk. It's littered in empty, plastic bottles of cheap whiskey. There is a half-eaten pizza hanging out of her desk drawer.

LAUREN pours out the contents of her flask on Nick's desk, ruining the paperwork he had on his keyboard. The contents are chunky, white. NICK shows visible signs of disgust.

NICK sticks his finger into the liquid and tastes it.

Camera slowly zooms out to show LAUREN passed out on the floor.

AERIAL SHOT: LAUREN is seen riding a motorcycle across a long, asphalt road. Heat can be seen rising off the tar. She revs the engine, sending the bike into full speed.

CLOSE UP of LAUREN's face. Only her eyes are visible in the helmet. CAMERA ZOOMS OUT to show MARLENE DOTTY riding on the back of the bike, screaming her head off.

NICK is sitting at a table, holding hands with his BOYFRIEND, who shall remain nameless. They are looking lovingly into each other's eyes. BOYFRIEND feeds NICK a bite of coffee cake. NICK shoves a coffee cup into BOYFRIEND's mouth and tips it for him to drink. BOYFRIEND shows physical signs of pain because the coffee is clearly too hot to drink, but NICK continues to pour anyways. ENTER LAUREN.

LAUREN slaps NICK across the face. He has little reaction, giving reason to believe this happens on a daily basis.
