Ext. Day - Park

SamSandweiss - on 07/25/2010

A lower-class man, 29, walks through a park and notices a purse and a cup of coffe sitting on a PARK BENCH. He sits down on the bench, intrigued by the abandoned purse. He looks around to find the owner of the purse, but the park is empty.

SamSandweiss - on 07/25/2010 2 versions.

He sits down on the bench and looks over to the purse and there is something sticking out of the top. He takes the cup of coffee and smells wonderful. He puts it down and looks back at the object in the purse. He grabs it, and it's a journal. He puts it beside the coffee and looks inside the bag and only finds a ballet dancer outfit and ballet shoes. He puts the dance outfit and shoes back inside the bag. He looks at the journal again, and opens it.

SamSandweiss - on 07/25/2010

The journal reads...

SamSandweiss - on 07/25/2010

PROPERTY OF CATHERINE AL

The man turns the page...

SamSandweiss - on 07/25/2010

Dear Diary, Dance was brutal today. Swollen ankles, sore thighs, and my back is arched to the point where I can't sit down comfortably. At least Andrew was there to help me get home after. I think he's really cute. Maybe he thinks the same of me?

SamSandweiss - on 07/25/2010

While the man is reading the diary entries, Catherine is dancing around him on the park bench. It's his imagination.

SamSandweiss - on 07/25/2010

Dear Diary, Recital was tonight. My instructor loved me in it. He thinks I have something special that not many dancers have. Andrew was there. He told me he loved me tonight. I told him I loved him too.

SamSandweiss - on 07/25/2010

Dear Diary, Andrew and I made love tonight. When I was with him I got the feeling I get when I dance. That and sitting on a park bench with no one else but him and not a soul in sight. Just us two. If I could have two things in this world, it would be dancing and Andrew.

SamSandweiss - on 07/25/2010

Catherine is in her ballet outfit sitting next to him on the bench with her head on his shoulder. The man feels her next to him, but he knows she's not there.

SamSandweiss - on 07/25/2010

Dear Diary, I'm leaving Savage to pursue dance. A man came to me after a performance and wanted me in his production. I was ecstatic. I of course said yes. I took Andrew to the park to tell him the news. He was not happy. I love him, but he knows I can't stay here forever. It's not my future.

SamSandweiss - on 07/25/2010

Catherine and Andrew are sitting on the park bench next to the man. This is a continued thought of the man's imagination. Catherine is telling Andrew that she's leaving.

SamSandweiss - on 07/25/2010

Catherine

SamSandweiss - on 07/25/2010

I'm leaving to Los Angeles, Andrew. This is my chance to make it.

SamSandweiss - on 07/25/2010

Andrew

SamSandweiss - on 07/25/2010

What about me, Catherine? Just leave me after one person wants you?!

SamSandweiss - on 07/25/2010

CATHERINE

This is my chance and you know it! I can't believe you're acting this way.

SamSandweiss - on 07/25/2010

Andrew

SamSandweiss - on 07/25/2010

I love you Catherine! I don't want you to leave! How else would I react?

SamSandweiss - on 07/25/2010

Catherine

SamSandweiss - on 07/25/2010

I have to go.

SamSandweiss - on 07/25/2010

Andrew

SamSandweiss - on 07/25/2010

Then I'm leaving too.

SamSandweiss - on 07/25/2010

Andrew gets up and leaves while Catherine is left there, alone.

SamSandweiss - on 07/25/2010

Dear Diary, I'm in Los Angeles. I love it. I feel like I'm doing a grand solo act down a street that i'm not familiar with. I love it.

SamSandweiss - on 07/25/2010

Catherine is doing a solo dance down a street by herself.

SamSandweiss - on 07/25/2010

Dear Diary, Got a call from home today. Andrew died. I went to the park to clear my head. But I only felt guilt. They said he left a note. I didn't want them to read it to me. I know it was me. I feel that a part of me died today. I wish he was stronger.

SamSandweiss - on 07/25/2010

Catherine is sitting next to the man on the park bench, crying.

SamSandweiss - on 07/25/2010

Dear Diary, I'm back at the park today. I wanted to come back to move on from Andrew. I have my first big production rehearsal tonight. I'm hoping this will help me. Dance has always kept me going...

SamSandweiss - on 07/25/2010

The man's reading is interrupted by another man, 35, in nicer clothing without a wedding band. (The same man that drugged the woman in Part 1)

SamSandweiss - on 07/25/2010

High Class Man

SamSandweiss - on 07/25/2010

Oh thank God. You've found my wife's purse! She forgot it here earlier today and I'm so glad you have it!

SamSandweiss - on 07/25/2010

Low Class Man

SamSandweiss - on 07/25/2010

Yeah, uh, I was thinking someone would come back for it.

SamSandweiss - on 07/25/2010

The high class man takes the purse and begins to walk away before he's interrupted. The low class man hides the journal from him to keep it.

SamSandweiss - on 07/25/2010

Low Class Man

SamSandweiss - on 07/25/2010

Hey you're name isn't Andrew by chance, is it?

SamSandweiss - on 07/25/2010

High Class Man

SamSandweiss - on 07/25/2010

No, not it's not.

SamSandweiss - on 07/25/2010

The high class man smiled.

SamSandweiss - on 07/25/2010

Low Class Man

SamSandweiss - on 07/25/2010

Oh, okay. Sorry I asked.

SamSandweiss - on 07/25/2010

HIGH CLASS MAN

It's okay, thanks again!

SamSandweiss - on 07/25/2010

The high class man walks away, and the low class man begins to think. He realized that the man said "his wife" but he never had a wedding band. The diary also never mentioned her being married. That man just stole the purse.

SamSandweiss - on 07/25/2010

Low Class Man

SamSandweiss - on 07/25/2010

Hey!

SamSandweiss - on 07/25/2010

The high class man turns around. The low class man goes up to him.

SamSandweiss - on 07/25/2010

LOW CLASS MAN

That's not your wife's purse. You don't have a wife.

SamSandweiss - on 07/25/2010

HIGH CLASS MAN

How would you know that?

SamSandweiss - on 07/25/2010

Low Class man

SamSandweiss - on 07/25/2010

You're not wearing a wedding band.

SamSandweiss - on 07/25/2010

HIGH CLASS MAN (CONT'D)

What are you going to do about that?

SamSandweiss - on 07/25/2010

The low class man gets closer to him and makes the high class man feel the gun in his pocket.

SamSandweiss - on 07/25/2010

HIGH CLASS MAN (CONT'D)

Whoa man, calm down. I'll give it back.

SamSandweiss - on 07/25/2010

The high class man hands over the purse. The low class man starts heading back towards the bench.

SamSandweiss - on 07/25/2010

HIGH CLASS MAN (CONT'D)

What are you going to do with it? There's nothing in there.

SamSandweiss - on 07/25/2010

LOW CLASS MAN

I'll wait till she comes back for it!

SamSandweiss - on 07/25/2010

HIGH CLASS MAN

That could be a long time...

SamSandweiss - on 07/25/2010

LOW CLASS MAN

I'll wait.

SamSandweiss - on 07/25/2010

The man sits down on the bench and puts the purse down right beside his feet on the ground. He looks at the coffee beside him and smells it one more time. He imagines Catherine's face while smelling where her lips touched. He takes a sip and opens the journal up again and begins to read. The screen cuts to black.
