RAY gazes at the screen for a moment, and his silhouette begins to move up and down in silence. Out of this eerie scene, a large snort is heard, and we realize RAY is laughing. He continues his guffaw, and "falls" out of his chair, into floating space. RAY is curled up in his howls, his eyes welling with tears that adhere to his face in zero G as he rotates to THE INTERVIEWER. The laugh is both out of genuine amusement, but also a detectable sense of great relief, even joy, as if he has finally come to an understanding after great deliberation.

RAY takes a quick drag from his cigarette, and flicks it with an indignant apathy straight upward. We tilt to follow the smoldering debris upward, which is suddenly engulfed by EVE, a general intelligence unit, whose consciousness is integrated into every aspect of the satellite. It is marked with a deep green light on its front. The orb then descends to a position next to RAY, who endearingly reaches out and rubs the orb and smiles.

Just as the Mission Statement disappears, RAY'S enters the frame, studying the tablet in his hands. He looks at JOHN, then to the screen. (DIAGNOSTICS) fades onto the screen, followed by a 3D image of the PROVIDENCE satellite, an awesome circular array of telescopic lenses with the recognizable round window at its center. As various lines of code are run in the background, a lens labeled "STARBOARD UNIT 34: NON-FUNCTIONAL" changes from a RED highlight to a GREEN highlight with the label "STARBOARD UNIT 34: FUNCTIONAL," and a small progress bar is shown with the label "Calibrating PROVIDENCE Field."

CUT TO AERIAL TRACKING SHOT above Siberia, the entire frame engulfed in red and orange and yellow and ash of wild-fire. CUT TO EXTREME CLOSE UP on soil, dehydrating. CUT TO plains in the dustbowl. CUT TO tsunami like wave coming toward camera. CUT TO permafrost. CUT TO earthquake.
