INT. Mc CALLS TAVELING DINNER THEATER — NIGHT

JamieJagerman - on 02/11/2009

OSCAR

Well hello there.

JamieJagerman - on 02/11/2009

Giggling to herself, Gail slides into Oscars booth and sits close to him.

JamieJagerman - on 02/11/2009

GAIL

Hello yourself.

JamieJagerman - on 02/11/2009

OSCAR

Now what would you name be?

JamieJagerman - on 02/11/2009

GAIL

Gail. Whats yours?

JamieJagerman - on 02/11/2009

Gail bats her eyelashes flirtatiously and smiles at Oscar. Oscar puts his arm around Gail and smiles back.

JamieJagerman - on 02/11/2009

OSCAR

Ahh, Gail. What a pretty name for a beautiful lady like yourself. The name's Oscar.

JamieJagerman - on 02/11/2009

Gail chuckles to herself, looking around happily. Oscar looks at her and licks his lips. As she turns around, he grins widely at her.

JamieJagerman - on 02/11/2009

OSCAR (CONT'D)

So tell me Gail, what is such a pretty girl like you doing at a dinner theater like this?

JamieJagerman - on 02/11/2009

GAIL

Well I don't know. My friends told me it was a fabulous show, and pretty good food. So I figured why not? You know what I mean? But ya' know you can't always take advice from your friends. My friends can be total whack jobs sometimes. Total nuts! But you know how that is right? Friends can be so crazy! But you have to love them, their always there for me. You know?

JamieJagerman - on 02/11/2009

Oscar stares at Gail, eyes wide and jaw hanging open.

JamieJagerman - on 02/11/2009

OSCAR

Yeah. (beat) Whack jobs.

JamieJagerman - on 02/11/2009

Gail giggles and scoots closer to Oscar. Oscar smiles sheepishly, trying to be as friendly as possible.

JamieJagerman - on 02/11/2009

OSCAR (CONT'D)

You know what Gail? I have to head out right now. My,(beat) mother is in town and I dont want to leave her all by herself for too long so...

JamieJagerman - on 02/11/2009

GAIL

Oh, mothers! You know how they can be right? Terrible. But you have to love them. I mean, they dealt with raising us! I mean really! I have to give my mother props on raising me. Apparently, when I was little, I was quite the handfull! Oh goodness the good old days. Like high school! Those were the real good old days! I loved highschool. Didn't you Oscar? I thought it was amazing. Best four years of my life. So much fun. What do you think?

JamieJagerman - on 02/11/2009

Oscar nods and smiles, scooting away from Gail and up out of the booth. He shoves his hands in his pockets and taps his toe. Looking around the room, he shows a slight look of panic on his face.

JamieJagerman - on 02/11/2009

OSCAR

Look, Gail, your really nice, but I have to go. My mother is waiting for me and (beat) you know how mothers are right?

JamieJagerman - on 02/11/2009

Gail gets up out of her seat in a hurry, sticking right by Oscar's side. She smiles and loops her arm in with his. Smiling wide, she chuckles at him.

JamieJagerman - on 02/11/2009

GAIL

But the show is about to start silly! Text your mom! You do have texting right? I mean, I couldn't imagine living without my texting! It's so much easier than actually having to call someone and dealing with static and actually talking to them on the phone and having the ear piece get your ear all sweaty!? So much easier to text. Just text her! Here, sit down!

JamieJagerman - on 02/11/2009

She tugs Oscar back into the seat as she sits down. Grabbing his hand, she holds it and smiles at him. Oscar gives her a half crooked smile as the lights dim and the show begins. Characters up on stage begin speaking and Gail rests her head on Oscar's shoulder.

JamieJagerman - on 02/11/2009

Oscar shakes her off and begins walking out of the theather without a word.

JamieJagerman - on 02/11/2009

GAIL(WHISPER)

Oscar! Wait!

JamieJagerman - on 02/11/2009

EXT. PARKING LOT — NIGHT

JamieJagerman - on 02/11/2009

Oscar quickly strides out of the dinner theater and into the filled parking lot, his breath clear to see in the cold night air. Gail, following closely behind, tries her best to keep up with him in her red high heels.

JamieJagerman - on 02/11/2009

GAIL

Oscar wait! Please wait! I want to talk to you!

JamieJagerman - on 02/11/2009

OSCAR

Well Gail, listen, my mother is waiting and I really have to go so...

JamieJagerman - on 02/11/2009

Gail grabs his arm as he goes to grab his car door. Oscar pivots on his heels and takes her hand off of him. He shakes his head quickly.

JamieJagerman - on 02/11/2009

OSCAR (CONT'D)

Goodnight Gail.

JamieJagerman - on 02/11/2009

GAIL

Here, let me give you my number!

JamieJagerman - on 02/11/2009

OSCAR

Uhm, I don't have time I'm terribly sorry.

JamieJagerman - on 02/11/2009

Oscar climbs into his car and slams the door shut. He fumbles for his keys, shaking as he moves. Gail reaches into her purse, frusterated by its clutteredness. Oscar shoves the key into the ignition and turns the key. The car doesn't start. He turns it again. It is idle.

JamieJagerman - on 02/11/2009

OSCAR (CONT'D)

Darn it! My old piece of junk won't start! This is when AAA comes in handy I suppose.

JamieJagerman - on 02/11/2009

Oscar goes to grab his phone and realizes that Gail is still standing there, her hand extended with a small white card between her index and middle finger.

JamieJagerman - on 02/11/2009

GAIL

Here ya' go! Oh(beat) your car isn't starting? That's a shame! Well, while your waiting for AAA why don't you come back inside?

JamieJagerman - on 02/11/2009

Oscar lets his head drop, looking down at his feet. He shakes his head, eyes closed and runs his fingers through his short black hair.

JamieJagerman - on 02/11/2009

OSCAR

Cause I'm walking.

JamieJagerman - on 02/11/2009

Oscar gets out of the car and locks the doors. Gail stands alone in the parking lot, jaw dropped and still holding the card. As Oscar walks, he smiles widely as Gail walks back inside.
