zebb - on 09/22/2010

HEAD SUIT (CONT'D)

Now I know we've all been feeling a bit nervous about all this stuff. But if we get this all done, quickly and efficiantly, we won't have to worry about all this stuff anymore..

There is a moment of silence, then another murmer of agreement.

zebb - on 09/22/2010

THE FIRST ONE

Shane is sitting at his desk, staring out the window. After a few moments a man falls past his window, off the building. Shane jumps and tries to look down, bumping his head on the glass, he looks around and runs out of the shot.

INT. ELEVATOR. MORNING

Shane is in the elevator, looking paniced. He is swaying from side to side, regularly looking up to see how far he is from the ground floor. After a while, the elevator dings and he runs out.

int. Office foyer. same shot as earlier.

Shane runs out of the building, there is a crowd of people walking off to the left of the shot.

ext. City street. Late morning.

We see that there is a crowd gathering around the dead body of the suicide jumper, the camera is raised above the people, so we can see the body. Shane breaks through the crowd and looks at the body, then looks up towards the roof of his building. He kneels down and reaches into the jumpers pocket, taking out his wallet. The camera cuts to a close up of the mans I.D, it is the man who was in the elevator with Shane that morning.

INT. Police Interegation Room. Time unknown.

Shane is at an interview with two policemen, one is fat, white and little, the other tall, strong and mean looking.

FAT COP

So why did you look at his wallet?

SHANE

I wanted to know who the guy was

FAT COP

What did it matter to you?

SHANE

I don't know,in case I knew him?

FAT COP

Did you know him?

SHANE

No! I told you already.

TALL COP

When did you last see him?

SHANE

Falling from my building

FAT COP

Before that! Shithead!

SHANE

In the lift this morning

TALL COP

What did he say?

SHANE

...Nothing, I've never met him

FAT COP

Yeah, but what did he say?

Shane looks at Fat Cop, confused.

SHANE

He didn't say anything

TALL COP

So what did you do after you saw him fall past your window?

SHANE

I ran to the lift, took it to the ground floor and ran outside and had a look.

FAT COP

So, you never met the guy?

Shane looks at Fat Cop again, confused.

SHANE

...No

FAT COP

Right, so, in the elevator, how did he seem?

SHANE

I don't know, he was sweating, but most of the people who work in my building sweat.

TALL COP

You don't sweat much?

Shane is obviously confused but the strange question.

SHANE

I sweat as much as anyone... But the people at my building sweat more than most people.

FAT COP

Why?

SHANE

I don't really know.

FAT COP

Why?

SHANE

... Because I don't pay much attention at work?

FAT COP

So you're a bit lazy then?

Shane looks Fat Cop up and down.

SHANE

At work I am, yeah.

FAT COP

What about at home? You do much at home?

SHANE

Umm... A bit...

FAT COP

Just the occasional work out then?

Shane is getting more and more confused with each question.

SHANE

What?

TALL COP

Just answer the fucking question!

Shane jumps, looking at Tall Cop, then back at Fat Cop.

SHANE

Yeah, occasionally I suppose.

FAT COP

That' s good to hear. I try and work out as much as I can.

Shane looks Fat Cop up and down, there is a moment of silence. Tall Cop then claps his hands once.

TALL COP

I think that's all we need to know, someone's taken your statement, yes?

SHANE

Yeah

TALL COP

Thank you very much then sir, have a nice day.

int. Car. late afternoon.

The camera sits in the passenger seat, watching Shane drive, he is playing the Regurgitator song "Fat Cop" very loud, and singing along.
