int. her house - early morning

under18alien - on 01/26/2011

A shot of light falling on a watch. The second hand ticks away slowly. The sun streaming through the window above the watch shows a bare room - bed, books, white walls with things in black pencil scrawled on them. The sound of a plane which flies overhead.

A shot of a woman running like crazy. She's gaunt, in a white salwar kameez. We glimpse very little of her and she runs away.

under18alien - on 01/26/2011

The shot of the watch, light on it, the lonely, narrow window.

under18alien - on 01/26/2011

She's stopped somewhere. As she gasps, she habitually looks at her hand for the time. No watch. A shot of her eyes, tired and furious.

A moment of complete blank, and then powerful, chaotic rock plays... refer Mogwai's 'Glasgow Mega-snake'

scores of people, with angry slogans stream past a shaking camera, all very blurred and dusty. In the background we can see army jeeps park quickly and soldiers of a territorial army scatter around quickly... the population of the rioters is immense and the air is very dusty. Hundreds of people recording it through very small cams and phones, some people nearer to the camera carrying touchpads which they point out to record, then they stand still for a second and edit footage right away. Journalists running with their own cams, no cameramen.

Police start to beat up people, cops wear masks and reinforced transparent plastic facegear. They take positions, almost as if preparing for war. Portraits of some of the rioters, they look very disheveled and confused . They scream and march without direction, hundreds of people giving up and simply sitting on the ground. some people , ostensibly from a village sit on the ground and watch with open faces as the cops come showering on them. A shot in which a random bloodied mangled man and his family, blood streaming down their necks, they run to the camera.

man

Thirty five years and we're still screaming.

woman

We've got some of the world's largest mines! We've got farms and the temperature is still regulated by forests here and not by fucking cars. And we got a 5% reservation

She's brutally shoved off by another woman as the two families fight. The camera runs somewhere else. Suddenly, in the midst of it all, the woman shown running above (in white salwar)... she's bloodied and is irritated when she realizes the camera is on her.

A shot of her jogging out to find something to wash her eyes with, with just masses of people fighting in her background. The road she is on is eerily empty and has smoke all around it.

under18alien - on 01/26/2011

A crest of neatly made concrete road, alongside a desolate, dry, empty wasteland. Embarrassingly weak trees, sparse and out in the distance. As she steps out on the wasteland from the road, she finds a place to sit and she stares. It's dry and very very hot. Dried blood on her forehead, bits on her chin.

INT. - HER HOUSE - MORNING

under18alien - on 01/27/2011 2 versions.

The room, similar as in the beginning. Her clothes, neatly ordered in bunches on the bed. A sparkling stone floor. A gramophone. Vinyl records. From another room, her voice can be heard, speaking on a phone and we see her pace to and fro, but only fragments of her.

HER VOICE

I was thinking we campaign throughout regions that want independence.

under18alien - on 01/27/2011

Pause. Probably listening to the other side talk.

under18alien - on 01/27/2011

HER VOICE (CONT'D)

Not campaign. Travel. I'm not going to be there if it's a campaign.

under18alien - on 01/27/2011

Pause.

under18alien - on 01/27/2011

HER VOICE (CONT'D)

No. I won't be there.

under18alien - on 01/27/2011

Pause.

under18alien - on 01/27/2011

HER VOICE (CONT'D)

I said I won't be there if that's your only solution of how we do this thing.

under18alien - on 01/27/2011

Hangs up.

EXT. - EXILE - AFTERNOON

under18alien - on 01/27/2011

She's standing under a huge, very wide billboard. It's a screen and shows advertisements of brands in brilliant color, not too loud colors, mostly in minimum blue and green.

under18alien - on 01/27/2011

On it is written, flashing in shades of gray and black

Two things happened this morning. Our country got the highest number of English speakers in the world. And Hindi became the world's second most spoken language.
