On the verge of losing his son to mental illness, a work-a-holic detective finds a kidnapped scientist's S.O.S note immersing him in a company's plot to mass distribute a mind altering drug. The “loner” detective must seek the help of a quirky conspiracy theorist who has been in hiding for 5 years.

We see John and Alex in the car together for a brief moment. Both are in silence. Alex reaches into his jacket pocket and pulls out a pill organizer, opens up Saturday, and takes 2 or 3 medications. He seems experienced for this task given his age.
